The BSNL CCWF called for the reports on the problems faced by the Casual and Contract workers at the field level due to the gross violation of labour acts by the vendors engaged in SLA system and also the negligence shown by the BSNL Management. Com. Animesh Mitra, Secretary General, BSNLCCWF and Com.C.K. Gundanna, AGS, BSNLEU, met Shri Onkar Sharma, CLC (C), in Delhi on 02.08.2024 and submitted the memorandum on the hardships faced by Casual and Contract workers. The memorandum, addressed to the Labour Commissioner based on the major demands like violation of Labour Act, denial of minimum wages, non-extension of social securities, non-implementation of minimum wages and revision of wages to the casual labourers based on 7th CPC recommendation etc. They highlighted the pathetic condition of the contract workers who are engaged in the SLA system by the BSNL Management. It was also highlighted that the Management is exploiting the casual labourers by denying the 7th CPC pay scales. The CLC (C) heard the arguments of the leaders patiently and assured that a conciliation meeting will be arranged with the BSNLCCWF and the BSNL Management to address issues at the earliest.
