Maharashtra BSNL Contract Workers Union under the affiliation of BSNL Casual & Contract Workers Federation, held it’s Extended CEC meeting on 13th April-2025 in Aurangabad (now renamed as Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar). The basic idea for the convention was to discuss the burning issues and the demands of the contract workers in BSNL.
Comrade Animesh Mitra Secretary General, BSNL CCWFCom. Nagesh Kumar Nalawade, President BSNLEU-MH, Com, John Verghese, Deputy General Secretary BSNLEU-Chq, Com. Kautik Baste, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU-MH, Com. Ganesh Hinge, Vice President BSNLEU-MH, Com. M. Jakati, Circle Secretary AIBDPA-MH had attended this meeting and gave there important speech on current situation in BSNL and the role of Modi govt. to destroy the PSUs including BSNL.
At the outset, com. Yusuf Husain, General Secretary, MHBSNLCWU-MH & Asstt. General Secretary, BSNLCCWF-Chq briefly narrated the preface about the importance of the said convention and the achievements of the union during the preceding two years. There were hundreds of casual & contract workers gathered from Beed, Nanded, Parbhani, Aurangabad, Sindhudurg & Jalgaon. About six works were invited to deliver their speeches. All the workers narrated about a common problem they are facing which is migration of copper cable to FTTH. In Maharashtra Circle, almost entire copper cable is dismantled, resulting, joblessness of workers.
Com. Animesh Mitra in his speech emphasized the need to spread an awareness amongst all the contract workers engaged in BSNL. He also explained the Labour Code Bill in details and called upon the workers to join the 20th May countrywide strike by the Central Trade Unions. He also advised the Circle leadership of BSNLEU to extend full support to the struggle of contract workers in their fight against the negative attitude of BSNL Management being Principal Employer.
Finally, resolution is adopted to intensify the membership campaign throughout the circle during the coming months, and also conducting of agitational programme on exploitation of the contract workers in BSNL.
