Important organisational meeting of casual contract labourers held at Guwahati and decided to go on agitational programme.

BSNL Casual Contract Labour Union, Assam circle, has organised it’s important circle level organisation meeting at Guwahati to review the functioning of the Organisation in Assam circle. Practically, it was the decision of the CHQ to review the organisational functioning in Assam circle. Accordingly, this meeting was held on 16.03.2025 at BSNLEU Union Office, Guwahati. Veteran leader Com.Sankar Das, presided over the meeting while Com.Bijoy Deka, President, BSNLCCLU, welcomed everyone and narrated the present situation in Guwahati circle. Com.Prasenjit Saha, AGS, BSNLCCWF, inaugurated the meeting and explained the attack on casual contract labours and the role of the Modi government. He also explained the future course of action and the role of BSNLCCWF. Com.Bikash Baruah, Circle Secretary, BSNLCCLU, narrated the difficulties for the functioning of the Organisation particularly the retrenchment of the contract labourers and the introduction of the SLA system. Com.Roop Kumar Baruah, Circle Secretary, BSNLCCWF, NE-II circle also addressed the house. Then, members explained their difficulties and the charter of demands to be addressed by the Union. Com.Animesh Mitra, Secretary General, BSNLCCWF, narrated the action taken by the Federation and the discussion with the Management on the issue of the contract casual laboruers. He also explained the impact of the four Labour Code bill on the working class as it has already been introduced by the Modi government. In the concluding part, Com.Bijoy Deka, President, announced the future course of action including the tour programme of all BA and submission of the memorandum to the GM and CGM in Assam circle.
